"My children and I are experiencing the history we only read about in books in the States."

The Chilterns American Women’s Club is a group of more than 400 women who are citizens of North American countries or wives of citizens of North America countries. Our primary objective is to welcome and assist newcomers and their families to the area of England known as the Chilterns. We promote friendship and cooperation among members, and give financial support to several philanthropic projects.

CAWC was established on July 1, 1987 with the merger of two other local clubs founded in 1950. Now in it’s 12th year, CAWC has an expanding membership of more than 400 woman, drawn from members with an extensive network of information and provides the opportunity to make living in the UK a wonderful and rewarding experience.

Full membership to CAWC is granted to those women who are citizens of North American countries or wives of citizens of North American countries. An Associate Membership into Chilterns American Women’s Club is granted to those women having strong active ties to North America, whether those ties be through current employment by herself or her spouse by a North American corporation, former residence in North America for 12 consecutive months, or have children currently enrolled in a North American school.

Chilterns American Women’s Club is a member of a larger international group known as the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas (FAWCO). FAWCO is an international network of more than 70 independent clubs with a combined membership of more than 16,000 women in 35 countries worldwide.
